‘Olu fought like a soldier’ — Pete Edochie pays emotional tribute to late actor

Nollywood veteran actor Pete Edochie has paid an emotional tribute to his late friend and colleague, Olu Jacobs, describing him as a brother who fought bravely until the end.

In a video shared online, Edochie described Jacobs as a humorous and peaceful colleague who treated everyone he interacted with as a senior in the movie industry.

Recalling his relationship with the late actor, Edochie said Jacobs built a life that was known only to himself, his wife, Joke Silva, and him.

“Olu, my brother, he fought like a man. He fought like the soldier I have always known him to be. Rest in peace,” he said.

Edochie also commiserated with Joke Silva over the loss, acknowledging the difficult period she had endured while caring for her husband.

“Joke, you did your best; though Olu has gone, be glad and celebrate Olu’s life,” he said.

The veteran actor noted that Jacobs was the only one among his senior colleagues who lived beyond the age of 80, adding that death ultimately comes when God determines the time.

Edochie also expressed hope that one of Jacobs’ children would take up acting so the family and colleagues could continue to remember the late actor through his child.

“Olu was our movie senior, and he treated everybody he interacted with that way,” he added.

Concluding his tribute, Edochie encouraged Silva to remember her husband’s words and take heart, while expressing hope that he and Jacobs could meet again if people recognise one another after death.
